The situation
I have been offered the flat and the lease (Mietvertrag) is in front of me. Before I sign I want to check the notice period, the deposit and the clause about renovation.

What is a Mietvertrag?
A Mietvertrag is the rental contract for a flat. It states the rent without utilities (Kaltmiete), the monthly advance payment for utilities (Nebenkosten), the deposit (Kaution) and the notice period. The deposit can be at most 3 months of Kaltmiete.
