What is the Jobcenter?

The Jobcenter is the office that pays basic income support (Grundsicherung, often still called Bürgergeld) to people who cannot cover their living costs, and helps them look for work. It is a different office from the Agentur für Arbeit, which pays unemployment benefit (Arbeitslosengeld) to people who paid into unemployment insurance.
