I have an appointment at the immigration office (Ausländerbehörde) to extend my residence permit. I brought my passport, my work contract, proof of health insurance and my registration certificate.

What is the Ausländerbehörde?
The Ausländerbehörde is the immigration office. People from outside the EU go there to get or renew a residence permit (Aufenthaltserlaubnis). Some cities use another name for it, for example Landesamt für Einwanderung in Berlin.
