How these words get used
Handy is the German word for a mobile phone. It looks English and isn't. Wi-Fi is WLAN, said "vay-lahn". A Mailbox is voicemail, not your email inbox.
A Vertrag usually comes with a Mindestlaufzeit of up to 24 months. After that first term you can cancel with one month's notice. If you would rather not commit, Prepaid means buying Guthaben and topping it up: Ich lade mein Guthaben auf.
anrufen takes a direct object and splits: Ich rufe dich morgen an. No "zu", no dative. auflegen, herunterladen and hochladen split the same way. besetzt is the word for a busy line. When the internet is down you report a Störung to the Hotline, which mostly means time in the Warteschleife. A Funkloch is a spot with no Empfang.
