How these words get used
At the Kasse things move fast and the cashier says little. At the Bäckerei or Metzgerei counter you will hear Sonst noch etwas?, and Das ist alles, danke closes the order. Bottles and cans carry Pfand: you feed them into a machine in the Supermarkt, it prints a slip, and the cashier takes that amount off your bill. A Tüte costs extra, so most people bring their own bag.
Measure words stay singular after a number when they are masculine or neuter: zwei Kilo Kartoffeln, drei Stück. Feminine ones do change: zwei Flaschen, zwei Dosen, zwei Packungen. There is no "of" in between. Obst and Gemüse are singular nouns, and Nudeln is nearly always plural.
A Brötchen has other names depending on the region: Semmel in Bavaria, Schrippe in Berlin. A Metzgerei is a Fleischerei in the north and east.
