The situation
I woke up ill and I am calling my manager before the working day starts. I will see a doctor today and I do not know yet how long I will be out.
What you want
Report the absence, say what is urgent at work, and agree when to send the sick note.
What is a Krankmeldung?
A Krankmeldung is telling your employer that you're sick and can't work. You have to do it on the first day, before your shift starts if you can. By law you need a doctor's sick note (Arbeitsunfähigkeitsbescheinigung, or AU) when you're sick for more than 3 days. Your employer can ask for one earlier.
